These are my confessions....

Hello again loyal readers! I thought I would give you a little more information about myself in the form of confessions.  Many of the other blogs I read on a regular basis do recaps and share information this way, and I thought it would be a unique and different want to tell you about myself.

I confess...that while I love Florida, the beach, sweet tea (I could go on), I do miss Ohio every single day.  I miss being near my immediate family. Plus, there is something very comforting about being in your childhood room that hasn't changed a bit, am I right?  I miss being able to watch my favorite sports team on television down here (the Cleveland Indians).

I confess...building on above, I have the best family ever, specifically, my husband and son.  They are great and my husband is my biggest supporter ever.  He never ceases to amaze me at how supportive and willing he is to help pick up my slack so I can try to achieve my dreams.  And, my son might be the cutest person in the world.  He makes my day brighter every singe day.

I confess...I collect rubber ducks.  Seriously.  I have almost 1,000 and they are all different.  I have ducks for each holiday (Christmas, Easter, Halloween), sporting events and teams, different colors, etc. There is something about their little faces that just make me smile :)

I confess...that while I love my higher education job, part of me still wishes that I had lived out my Bachelor's degree in musical theatre.  I loved the experience of getting to become a character and getting to decide how they would act.  Plus, there is something so great about Broadway soundtracks.  I can normally be found humming or singing...(let's be honest, belting out) my favorite Broadway show tunes.  In another life, I want to play Elphaba!!

Wicked is my absolute favorite show and Elphaba is my favorite character. I've seen the show 6 times and I've read and studied the script and libretto in great detail.  In fact, I wrote a paper on Elphaba for my Student Development Theory course during my masters coursework.  During the production, Elphaba goes through all 7 of Chickering's Vectors. #studentaffairsnerd

I hope this helps you get a better understanding of me and how I tick.  I'm trying to balance how often to post, and get some blog ideas going, including some weekly ideas that will pop up on a regular basis. See you soon!

Welcome and Introduction!

Hello everyone!

My name is Emily, and I enjoy long walks on the beach, coffee, and Grey's Anatomy.  :)  I'm also a student affairs professional.  Most people have little to no idea of what that means, but I'm hoping that throughout the life of this blog, I can help explain what my job entails, some challenges, and ultimately why I decided to enter into this field.

Before we jump into the heavy stuff, let me tell you, my lovely readers, a little bit about myself.  I'm originally from Ohio, but moved to Florida in 2009 because I was tired of the snow and cold.  I hadn't  planned to be in Florida forever, but I met the man of my dreams, got married, and never looked back.

Seven years later, I'm married with an adorable three year old son, and working as the Student Services Coordinator at the College of Motion Picture Arts at Florida State University.  I'm a room parent for my son's preschool class, and I'm taking classes while I work on my application to a doctoral program.

In my (little) amount of free time, I love photography, and taking pictures that can tell a story.  I fully believe the statement that a picture is worth 1,000 words, and I really like to try to find a story within photos.  I am by no means a professional, but photography is a great outlet for me to be creative.  So, with that note, I will end with some of my more favorite photos.

Enjoy and looking forward to getting to know all of you!
